Resty’s business journey didn’t begin with a storefront. It began with a single product, a simple recipe, and a willingness to start small.
Years ago, Resty began selling homemade passionfruit juice to neighbors in the Walukuba community. It quickly became a local favorite. Instead of spending the profit she made, she saved it to grow her business. Once she had saved enough money, she took her next step of faith: buying a small stand to place in front of her home. This gave her greater visibility and the opportunity to add a few more items beyond just juice.
Slowly and steadily, Resty’s side hustle grew.
When Resty joined Dwell’s housing program and her home was later renovated, it opened the door to new opportunities for her family. She used one of the rooms in her home to create a small storefront, expanding her offerings to include snacks, rice, juice, and everyday essentials for her neighbors.
In 2025, Resty joined Seed’s training. There, she began learning how to budget intentionally, track her income, and plan for growth rather than only responding to daily needs.
With new financial confidence and a clearer vision, Resty is moving toward a long-held dream: opening her own supermarket in town. It’s a step that would create jobs, increase access to essential goods, and multiply the steady growth she has faithfully built over years.
Resty’s story reflects what sustainable entrepreneurship often looks like: not overnight success, but faithful steps, wise saving, and courage to grow with what you have. Her journey reveals the power of starting small and staying steady. And in doing so, she is building more than a business, she is building a strong future that will benefit her and her community for years to come.
