First Annual Hope for Haiti 5K in the Books!

A crowd of over 100 runners gathered Saturday, July 28th to take part in Medic Samaritan’s first annual fundraising 5K race in Knoxville, Tennessee.

Runners set off at 8:30 a.m. through West Knoxville, raising money for Medic Samaritan, a non-profit organization that facilitates access to shelter, healthcare education, and clean water within rural Haiti. Proceeds from the event directly benefited the organizations’ Rural Community Practitioner Program, which educates and employs Haitian nurses whom provide medical care to distant and vulnerable communities.

Medic Samaritan nursing coordinator Dr. Amy Knowles emphasized her gratitude for everyone who came together to support the organizations mission: “We were overwhelmed at the outpouring of support for this event, from our race organizers and sponsors, to our volunteers and participants. We are truly blessed and thankful for everyone who came out to support our nurses and communities in Haiti” Knowles said.

Medic Samaritan would like to extend a very special thanks to our race organizers Courtney Guider, Karen Rookard, Kate Link, Chaney Bass, and Cady Moore, without whom this event and its success would not have been possible. Additionally, we offer our deepest gratitude to Endurance Sports Management of Knoxville, Tennessee, whose race-time services were exemplary, and paramount towards a successful event. Kudos to Jedidiah Cuttle, who won the race with a time of 20:46.5.
